Join the Frankfort Park District team as a Park Maintenance Worker II who is responsible for performing a variety of park labor duties to maintain and/or repair park properties and equipment. Salary range is $22-28 per hour. EOE
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Operate a variety of equipment and vehicles (weed eaters, blowers, commercial mowers, chain saw, small dump trucks, pulling trailers, brush chippers, snowplows, snow removal equipment, skid steers, forklifts, end loaders or backhoes) and be prepared to use equipment beyond listed examples.
- Mow agency green space, sports fields, and perform line marking on sports fields.
- Plant and maintain landscape beds, native plants, turfgrass, trees, and shrubs; include planting, watering, weeding, mulching, litter collection, mowing, trimming, power washing sidewalks and hardscape amenities, pruning, and pesticide application.
- Inspect playgrounds, perform minor repairs, rake loose surfacing, and pick up trash.
- Repair and paint benches, tables, roads, walks, trails, buildings and equipment; remove snow from parking lots, park walks, drives and ice rinks; make and maintain seasonal outdoor ice rinks.
- Treat ponds and turf areas with herbicide.
- Assist with building, roof, door, window and electrical or plumbing repairs.
- Perform tasks within the agency safety program; other duties as assigned.
- Provide leadership and guidance to co-workers and assigned staff; instruct and advise on technical aspects of work assignments.
- Assist with repair, preventative maintenance, construction and development of parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, structures, paths, drainage, restrooms and concession buildings, fleet maintenance and other property owned by the District.
- Participate in preparations for community events and other District activities; set up and take down equipment for planned programs and events.
- Manage snow removal operations.
- Incorporate risk management practices in all work activities; comply with risk management goals and objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and smell.
- Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.
- Occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to and more than 50 pounds; employee is allowed and encouraged to use mechanical or manual assists for lifting above 40 lbs. as a guideline.
- Specific vision ability required includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate equipment.
Park Maintenance workers may work alone or in groups. Perform work at a moderate, constant pace, but it may vary slightly depending on the demands of the job required. The Park Maintenance II worker must work safely and professionally around park patrons in public areas.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all general agency and departmental safety rules.
- Use material-handling equipment or staff assistance when lifting and/or moving objects 50 lbs. or greater.
- Promptly report any work-related or patron injuries to supervisor.
- Attend required safety program and in-service education meetings.
- Correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to supervisor.
Must be able to use personal protective equipment based on job tasks; PPE may include safety goggles, ear protection, work boots, protective gloves, helmets, and respirators.
