What You'll Do:
- Plan and Play: Design and lead fun, engaging activities from group games to one-on-one interactions to create memorable moments for residents.
- Connect and Care: Build meaningful relationships with residents and help them feel like part of a caring family.
- Document and Collaborate: Track activities and outcomes, and work with the team to ensure individualized attention for each resident.
- Family Fun: Keep families informed and organize events to involve them in residents' experiences.
What You Bring:
- Your warm heart and a high school diploma (a degree in Recreation Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, or related field is a plus).
- Experience with memory impairments (e.g., Alzheimer's or dementia) or in a senior living setting is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to connect with residents, families, and team members.
- Flexibility to work weekends/holidays as needed to provide consistent care.
- Creativity and patience to tailor activities to varied memory journeys.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
The Activities Coordinator primarily works within the memory care unit, involving planned activities, administrative tasks, and interaction with residents, families, and staff. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, assisting residents as needed, and visual/auditory requirements. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable performance of essential functions. Vision requirements and sensory safety considerations are noted to support resident care.
