Position
Transportation Engrng Technologist III (Pay Grade 15) – Salary: $5,169.46‑$5,941.50 Monthly.

Responsibilities- Prepare cost estimates
- Draw and detail basic plans for maintenance projects in Micro Station
- Work with districts and other in‑house personnel to prepare contract‑ready proposals
- Work with contractors after the project has been let to ensure the project is completed

Education:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, computer science, data science, geology, earth science, industrial technology, industrial drafting, design technology or construction technology; or graduate with an associate’s degree in Engineering Technology with completion of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program.
Experience, Training, or
Skills:
Four years of engineering‑related experience.
Substitute Education for
Experience:
Possess a valid EIT certification issued by the Kentucky State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors; or graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree or an associate degree in an engineering field; or a high school diploma.
Substitute Experience for
Education:
Must have four years of engineering‑related experience with the first education option; or seven years of engineering‑related experience with the second education option; or ten years of engineering‑related experience where related technical or vocational training substitutes for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis, up to a maximum of four years with the third education option; or eight years of bridge inspection experience under the supervision of a qualified inspection team leader, plus successful completion of a Federal Highway Administration approved comprehensive bridge inspection training course with the fourth education option.
Special Requirements (Age, Licensure, Regulation, Etc.):
Must possess a valid driver’s license prior to employment. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment.
Work is performed in the office and in the field. Exposure to risks inherent to construction sites and other work zones with required safety procedures.
Probationary PeriodThis job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
