DescriptionThe Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is a premier service agency of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The department provides resources and guidance to Kentucky’s public schools and districts as they implement the state’s K-12 education requirements. The department also serves as the state liaison for federal education requirements and funding opportunities. Our mission is to partner with districts, schools, families, students, business and industry, and communities to provide leadership and support to ensure success for each and every student.
The department seeks to hire a smart, experienced, hardworking and dependable Education Administration Program Consultant II to join our dedicated team. Key Responsibilities- Provide staff at Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) and in local schools, districts, educational cooperatives, advisory groups and various other stakeholders, oral and written direction and communication and assistance on state assessments, Kentucky’s accountability model, and regulations such as Administration Code and Inclusion of Special Populations.
- Acts as liaison between local educational agencies, testing vendors, and professional associations.
- Aid school/district and KDE staff in the development of appropriate testing procedures, habits, and behaviors by developing or reviewing policy and procedures to local school districts.
- Create, review, and edit written communications including e‑emails, letters, webpages and presentations on implementation and administration for state assessments, Administration Code, Inclusion of Special Populations, and the accountability system.
- Facilitate, develop, and present group/individual training to staff at KDE and in local schools, districts, educational cooperatives, advisory groups and various other stakeholders regarding state assessments and related topics including assessment programs and regulations such as Administration Code, Inclusion of Special Populations, testing accommodations, and the accountability system.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum RequirementsEDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a master's degree in education or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR
SKILLS:
Three years of professional experience in education, career and technical education, or a related field.

Current Rank II or Rank I certification by the Department of Education or Education Professional Standards Board will substitute for the required educational requirement. Additional professional experience in the field of education will substitute for the required educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in an office or school setting. Travel may be required.
Probationary Period:
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
