This is a full‑time, on‑site, licensed architect role with the KY Department of Parks based in Frankfort. The licensed architect will be responsible for reviewing designs, plans, and overseeing architectural projects, ensuring they meet required standards. The role includes reviewing architectural designs, collaborating with internal and external design teams to ensure park project design goals are met, managing workflows, and ensuring project completion on time and within budget.
This hands‑on role requires effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders to deliver high‑quality architectural solutions.
- Proficiency in architecture and architectural design, including knowledge of building codes, standards, and construction methodologies
- Experience in relevant software appropriate to the profession and integration as it applies to modern architectural practices
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage teams to meet project objectives effectively
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
- Current architectural license and relevant professional experience
- A strong commitment to sustainability and innovative design solutions
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams

Special RequirementsMust be licensed as an architect by the Kentucky Board of Architects. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in the office and in the field. Employees will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites, requiring adherence to safety procedures.
Probationary PeriodThis job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
