The Office of Special Prosecutions (SPU) is an elite unit within the Criminal Division of the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General. We are seeking a dynamic, conscientious executive administrative secretary to join our Frankfort and Louisville teams. The selected candidate will perform tasks integral to the success of the SPU team in prosecuting criminal cases throughout the state of Kentucky.
The position will be based out of the SPU office in Frankfort, Kentucky, with occasional travel to Louisville to assist the SPU team comprising the Office’s Louisville Violent Crime Reduction Initiative partnership with the Jefferson County Commonwealth’s Attorney to reduce violent crimes committed in Louisville.
Working as a member of the Office of Special Prosecutions, the selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing the administration of general office functions, including handling agency telephone inquiries, interacting with visitors, and ensuring legal documents pertaining to various cases are properly filed and maintained. The selected candidate will also assist prosecutors during all stages of a criminal prosecution by obtaining and preparing discovery, issuing subpoenas, and scheduling witness meetings.
The ideal candidate possesses pertinent experience in the legal field, displays strong organizational skills, embraces teamwork, and is self-motivated and directed. This person must be comfortable working with attorneys, police agencies, victim advocates, crime victims and their families.
