Kentucky Public Pensions Authority (KPPA) is currently seeking a Staff Assistant for the Executive Director of Operations/CFO and the KPPA Compliance Officer. Located in Frankfort, Kentucky, KPPA is responsible for the daily administration of three state administered retirement systems with over $29 billion in combined assets. These systems have a membership of more than 444,000 state and local government employees in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, including state employees, state police officers, city and county employees, as well as non-teaching staff of local school boards and regional universities.

This position will be integral in working with both the KPPA Executive Director of Operations/CFO and the KPPA Compliance Officer to successfully implement entity wide initiatives. The position will coordinate with all executives, division management, and KPPA employees in conducting compliance monitoring and testing; organization of relevant documents; drafting, editing, and updating policies and procedures; and researching public pension plans for best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the evaluation, execution, and completion of complex strategic plan and project initiatives.
  • Assist with developing an enterprise-wide compliance program for KPPA, as well as developing, documenting, monitoring, testing, and enhancing the investment compliance program for KPPA.
  • Assist with the review of employer reporting compliance and education departmental processes and internal policies.
  • Work with the accounting division on implementation, review, and enhancement of internal controls over financial reporting, including use of specific software where applicable (Workiva, Emars, Great Plains, LOB, Visio, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Adobe Acrobat, etc.).
  • Enhanced knowledge and experience with Excel, Tableau, coding, and any other software used to analyze data and present results of such analysis.
  • Investment compliance knowledge or experience.
  • Process improvement certification and experience (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, Business Process Management, Kaizen, etc.).

Minimum Requirements
  • EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR

    SKILLS:

    Six years of administrative or management experience.
  • Substitute EDUCATION for

    EXPERIENCE:

    A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Substitute EXPERIENCE for

    EDUCATION:

    Additional administrative, management, or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.

Working Conditions:

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.
