About The Job We are looking for candidates for the position of Research Associate in the Bioprocess Engineering Technical Pilot Plant (BPE-TPP) Downstream team. BPE-TPP is responsible for the execution of large-scale manufacturing of biological molecules to support early and late stage development processes and works closely with the Upstream and Downstream development groups. BPE-TPP delivers biological products used in support of early development for First in Human molecules and late stage biological development batches including process confirmation/consistency.
TPP supports/executes technology innovations for process improvement working with development groups on innovation projects.

Main Responsibilities- Design and execute purification unit operations.
- Interact with project teams to meet goals in relation to manufacturing drug substance and technology transfer.
- Operate downstream purification equipment such as chromatography and tangential flow filtration skids.
- Maintain adequate levels of supplies and consumables.
- Perform routine safety inspections of equipment and lab areas.
- Create standard operating procedures, batch records and technical reports. Support evaluation of new purification technologies.
- Ensure equipment readiness through scheduling and coordination of PM and calibration activities.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, or related field, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in downstream protein manufacturing processes, ideally at pilot scale.
- Understanding of chromatography modalities such as IEX, HIC, affinity, and multimodal.
- Ability to work within a team and set priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a protein purification lab or pilot plant.
- Familiarity with GMP or GLP.
- Experience operating and troubleshooting downstream unit operations (Columns, UF/DF, TFF, VI, VF).
- Experience with single use downstream technology.
- Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication, an innovative problem solver and proven ability to recognize and recommend areas for improvement.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement – at the individual, department and organizational level.
- Ability to effectively interact with a variety of communication and working styles.
- Ability to gown and gain entry to manufacturing areas.
- Ability to work flexible hours if needed.
