Must-Have
- 5-8 years of experience in MySQL Database Administration.
- In-depth knowledge of MySQL versions 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, 8 and 8.4.
- Install, configure, and maintain MySQL databases to ensure their operational efficiency.
- Tune database performance and execute backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and security.
- Monitor database performance and proactively address potential issues or bottlenecks.
- Hands‑on experience in performance tuning and query optimization.
- Implement security measures in line with compliance standards and best practices.
- Work with software developers to optimize queries and improve database design.
- Solid understanding of Unix/Linux system administration related to MySQL.
- Proficiency in writing complex shell scripting for automation.
- Good communication skills with both technical and management teams.
- Expertise in all major versions of MySQL including Oracle and Maria
DB. - Expertise of maintenance/patching mechanics.
- Experience in database security auditing and compliance.
- Familiarity with Ansible, Terraform tools for database deployment automation.
- Hands on Linux and Windows system administration experience is a plus.
- MySQL and Cloud certifications are preferred.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and change management procedures.
The Role
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, configuration, performance tuning, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting of MySQL databases across various versions (including MySQL 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, 8 and 8.4).
- The candidate should have experience working in high‑availability environments and demonstrate strong skills in automation, security, and compliance.
- Perform periodic maintenance / patching as required.
- Monitor database performance and perform proactive tuning.
- Tune database performance and execute backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and security.
- Define and implement best practices and automation initiatives.
- Lead database migration projects (on‑prem to cloud / version upgrades).
