Call Center Associate – Mental Health
We are seeking a compassionate and emotionally resilient individual to join our call center team, supporting people facing mental health crises, suicidal thoughts, and other emotionally distressing situations. This role demands deep empathy, professional composure, and the ability to stay present and supportive during intense conversations.
Job Details:
- Pay Rate: $20/hour
- Schedule:
Thursday through Sunday overnight shifts (11 PM–7 AM or 12 AM–8 AM preferred; 10 PM–6 AM as alternate option)
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to incoming calls from individuals experiencing mental health challenges or crisis situations
- Demonstrate empathy and active listening while maintaining a non-judgmental tone
- Effectively de-escalate high-stress situations, with guidance from the site supervisor when needed
- Remain emotionally compartmentalized between calls to avoid burnout or secondary trauma
- Contact emergency services (911) when necessary to ensure caller safety
Required Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a related role or environment involving client or patient interaction
Nice-to-Have
Experience:
- Experience handling sensitive or emotionally intense conversations
- Previous work in behavioral health or mental health support settings
Required Skills:
- Empathy and emotional intelligence
- De-escalation techniques
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
