POSITION SUMMARY

The Extended School Year (ESY) Nurse provides high-level clinical expertise and healthcare leadership, ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of the district's students during the summer session. This role is responsible for enhancing the educational experience by managing student health care plans, administering medications, and providing emergency medical support as needed. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate health records, coordinating with families and staff regarding medical needs, and ensuring compliance with state and federal health regulations within a school setting.

The Extended School Year (ESY) Nurse serves as a vital resource for students, colleagues, and families, requiring exceptional clinical judgment, compassion, and the ability to manage complex medical situations in a fast‑paced environment. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Possession of a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required. Valid DESE School Nurse certification is preferred.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Framingham Public Schools seeks candidates whose background, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging in all aspects of education.

  • Educational Requirement: A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • Professional

    Experience:

    A minimum of two (2) years of experience in pediatric, school, or public health nursing is preferred.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is strongly preferred.
