Framingham State University was founded in 1839 for a singular purpose - meeting a public need to promote the public good. FSU currently enrolls about 3,000 undergraduate and 1,200 graduate and professional students, offers 60 undergraduate and graduate programs in the arts and humanities, behavioral and social sciences, and professional fields, and enrolls 48% BIPOC students and 54% first-generation college students in our undergraduate programs. We are deeply committed to inclusive excellence and strive to promote a culture of equity and antiracism.

Job Description:

Early College allows high school students to take college credit bearing courses as part of a holistic support model. It is a program supported by the State's Equity Agenda to help level the playing field for underserved students by helping to instill the confidence and competence to succeed in career and college. We do this through early on-ramps and recruitment, scaffolded academics, wraparound supports, and co-curricular learning opportunities.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Teach college courses that are part of the College Planning Collaborative Early College programs in one or more of the following areas:

American Sign Language

Education

Environmental Science

Exercise Science

Financial Literacy

Food Science

History

Latin American Art

Principles of Marketing

Oral Communication

Introduction to Psychology

Quantitative Reasoning

Reading Literature

Introduction to Sociology

Global Studies

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

All Early College instructors receive an Orientation and ongoing support and have a Teaching Assistant or a High School Teacher assigned to their class.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

N/A

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Courses are taught in person on one of three public high school campuses (Framingham, Milford, or Waltham), so flexibility with travel and schedule is mandatory.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1-3 years of prior college teaching experience required
• Interest in teaching, mentoring, and supporting high school students from underserved groups essential
• Flexibility and nimbleness

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Spanish or Portuguese bilingual speaker
