Special Education Teacher
Salary Range: $54,000.00 to $56,000.00/year depending on license + $5,000 stipend for completing extended school year.
Now with a $5,000.00 Sign on Bonus!!!! (Paid out over the first five months)
What you will do:- Implement curricula according to MA State Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core Standards in a Chapter 766 approved school for students in grades 6-12.
- Responsible for providing challenging, motivating and relevant learning experiences in a 220 day setting.
- Teach classes by using various methods and materials to suit topic, IEP and/or learning style.
- Employ differentiated instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students, including integrating technology into lesson planning.
- Provide a learning environment which is physically safe and intellectually open and in keeping with special education best practices.
- Model the school’s academic and social expectations.
- Attend department meetings and relevant school and professional events/meetings as necessary.
- Maintain first aid, CPR and TCI certification through provided trainings.
- Responsible for keeping in compliance with program and agency policies, standards and protocols.
- Deliver structured lessons and activities for assigned class period for each group/student in accordance with their current IEP.
- Provide individualized intervention and accommodation when necessary.
- Participate in assessment practices in regards to Academy's IAP program.
- Assist in and/or develop IEPs as appropriate.
- Participate in teacher and staff meeting.
- Establish and maintain open communication with parents and guardians.
- Complete all associated documentation regarding student progress and grading.
- Maintain current license in moderate disabilities and curriculum area.
- Ability to work independently (i.e. can self‑direct on projects, can propose project solutions in regards to their curriculum area and lesson planning).
- Flexibility and creative thinking (i.e. ability to adapt and adjust to changing work situations, recognize and respond quickly when lesson/activity does not go as planned).
- Ability to teach, mentor, and coach others (i.e. able to provide constructive feedback to employees on shift, provide thoughtful and instruction).
- Dependability and persistence (i.e. excellent follow through on assigned tasks).
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in education preferred.
- At least 6+ months classroom experience (aide/co‑teacher/etc.) preferred.
- License:
Curriculum certification held, license in Moderate Disabilities 5-12 preferred.

- Attachment, Regulation and Competency Model (ARC)
- Trauma Informed Practice, MAP, TCI, CPR, First Aid training upon hire.
