ABGi is hiring on behalf of one of our clients, a respected mid‑sized CPA firm in Foxborough, MA, seeking a Senior Tax Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail‑oriented accounting professional who enjoys a balance of structured work, client interaction, and variety throughout the day. You’ll play a key role in supporting a diverse portfolio of clients while working in a collaborative and client‑focused environment.
Position OverviewThe Senior Tax Accountant role is ideal for a tax professional looking to take the next step in their career by managing complex tax engagements, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to strategic tax planning initiatives. The position offers a flexible hybrid work schedule that supports both collaboration and work‑life balance.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage complex tax compliance and consulting engagements for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
- Supervise, review, and mentor the work of tax accountants and junior staff.
- Conduct thorough research on advanced state and federal tax matters.
- Analyze and respond to technical tax issues identified during the preparation and review of returns.
- Collaborate with accounting leadership on matters such as payroll tax, retirement plans, and regulatory changes.
- Coordinate deliverables with both internal departments and external clients.
- Oversee client engagements from planning through final filing and delivery.
- Compile and review financial statements to support accurate and timely tax return preparation.
- Review client agreements, correspondence, and financial documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain audit‑ready documentation and assist with audit defense preparation.
- Stay current with evolving federal and state tax laws, including state‑specific filing requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
Master’s in Taxation preferred. - 4–6 years of relevant tax experience in public accounting.
- CPA license (or progress toward certification) preferred.
- Proficiency with tax software and research tools (e.g., CCH Axcess, GoSystem, or similar).
- Proven ability to lead client relationships and manage tax engagements independently.
- Strong mentoring skills with a focus on developing junior team members.
- Deep technical knowledge of high‑net‑worth individual, pass‑through entity, and fiduciary taxation.
- Excellent research, problem‑solving, and organizational abilities.
