Overview
NURSE SVC SUPV 2 - Emergency Room - Fountain Valley. The Emergency Department Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the management functions related to the delivery of patient care, as well as the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care. Supervises staff and emergency services while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit specific expertise. Specific duties include managing Human Resources functions;
directing patient care activities; implementing work place changes; monitoring unit budgets; and participating on performance improvement projects. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients and others.
- Coordinate management functions related to delivery of patient care, nursing practice quality, and standards of care.
- Supervise staff and emergency services; maintain clinical nursing practice skills and unit expertise.
- Manage human resources functions; direct patient care activities; implement workplace changes.
- Monitor unit budgets and participate in performance improvement projects.
- Serve as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients, and others.
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Knowledge of Title 22 and Joint Commission Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role (e.g., leading a project, shared governance chair, charge nurse)
- Complete understanding of patient classification system & staffing requirements for the patient population
- Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required;
Licenses and
Certifications:
Current RN License;
Current American Heart Association PALS, BLS, ACLS;
Current CPI Certification (Preferred) - Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms;
Unit-specific nursing certification;
Recent Emergency Room experience
