Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
We have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for performing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic maintenance to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of thermoforming, extrusion, and related manufacturing equipment. The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, supporting food safety and quality requirements, and maintaining plant assets in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Pay& Schedule
- Starting Pay:
Up to $35.00/hour, based on experience - Night Shift Differential: $0.75/hour
- Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:15 AM
- Schedule:
Panama 12-hour shifts with every other weekend off
- Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and electronic maintenance on thermoforming and extrusion equipment (plastic and foam).
- Diagnose equipment failures and determine corrective actions using blueprints, schematics, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Repair or replace defective equipment components using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Assemble, install, and repair wiring, electrical, and electronic components, machinery, and equipment.
- Troubleshoot and support PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, robotics, sensors, motors, and control systems as required.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.
- Document maintenance activities, equipment modifications, and repair procedures using CMMS systems or technical reports.
- Order parts, supplies, and equipment as needed to support maintenance activities.
- Follow all plant safety procedures and guidelines, including proper use of PPE.
- Understand, identify, and comply with Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures.
- Follow plant quality standards, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Support the plant’s Food Safety initiatives by completing required training and complying with food safety practices.
- Assist other maintenance and production personnel with specific tasks as requested.
- Act as an informal technical resource and mentor for colleagues with less experience.
- Work within defined maintenance processes and procedures while contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 7 years of maintenance experience, including machine repair and electrical diagnostics of extrusion (plastic and foam) and thermoforming equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, robotics, pneumatics, and industrial electrical systems.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and electrical/electronic testing equipment.
- Ability to move and lift heavy objects and safely operate production equipment.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to work overtime and train in cross-functional areas as needed.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions and troubleshoot effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Moderate computer skills (CMMS, maintenance documentation, basic software tools).
- Willingness to follow verbal and written instructions and work safely at all times.
