Full Time, Monday – Thursday; ½ Day Friday, Events and Meetings As Needed
Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to provide comprehensive administrative support to the Community Relations Department with a focus on community engagement initiatives, municipal events, and the strategic coordination of Main Street Fountain Inn. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management, promotion, and execution of Main Street initiatives in alignment with the Main Street Four-Point Approach®. The Coordinator plays a key role in advancing long-term downtown economic growth through strategic planning, volunteer coordination, historic preservation advocacy, and strong communication with department leadership, Main Street South Carolina (MSSC), city officials, and the broader community.
Essential Functions:

Administrative Support & Customer Service:
Performs a variety of administrative duties to support department operations, including receiving, processing, and maintaining documentation in accordance with established procedures and timelines. Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Event Coordination & Department Initiatives:
Assists with the planning, implementation, and management of City events and community engagement initiatives. Attends event-related meetings, supports logistics, and contributes to post-event evaluations.
Main Street Program Management & Reporting:
Serves as the primary liaison to Main Street South Carolina (MSSC) and manages the day-to-day operations of the Fountain Inn Main Street Program. Coordinates initiatives under the Main Street Four-Point Approach®, maintains all required documentation, and ensures compliance with state and national accreditation standards. Prepares and submits monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for MSSC, tracking economic activity, programming metrics, and board documentation.
Pursues state and national recognition through award submissions.
Marketing, Communication & Tourism Promotion:
Develops and manages strategic communications to promote the Main Street District and its programs. Maintains the Main Street Fountain Inn website and social media channels, and shares updates through newsletters, presentations, and public forums. Works with the Community Relations Team to design campaigns that highlight downtown’s unique identity, businesses, and attractions. Promotes Fountain Inn as a destination for visitors by creating tourism-focused content, developing itineraries, and partnering with local and regional organizations to increase foot traffic and overnight stays.
Volunteer Engagement & Leadership Development:
Recruits, trains, and manages volunteers for Main Street committees and projects. Develops job descriptions, tracks participation, and implements recognition programs to strengthen community involvement and cultivate future leaders.
Organizational Planning & Partnership Development:
Supports the development and execution of comprehensive work plans, budgets, and mission/vision statements. Coordinates with local partners, civic groups, and regional organizations to align resources, define roles, and advance downtown revitalization and tourism efforts.
Sponsor ships & Fundraising:
Acts as the primary contact for sponsor ships and fundraising partnerships supporting downtown events and Main Street initiatives. Coordinates communication with business stakeholders, sponsors, and partner organizations.
Community Representation & Stakeholder Engagement:
Represents the Community Relations Department and Main Street Program at meetings, public forums, and regional conferences. Provides presentations and updates to City Council, community groups, and the public to increase awareness, build partnerships, and foster community involvement.
