Job DescriptionWe are seeking a talented Senior Director of Medical Affairs Research in our virology and inflammation group, the Liver, Inflammation, Respiratory Viruses, and Established Products (LIVE) group. This leadership position manages a team of scientists and project managers, driving the development and lead execution of Gilead’s Phase 4 research strategy, aligning it with clinical development plans and overarching asset strategy, serving as study lead for key interventional and observational Phase 4 studies in LIVE, and overseeing the LIVE investigator-sponsored research program.
The role is based in Foster City.
4) LIVE research strategy from concept through scientific dissemination and publication, ensuring alignment with integrated evidence plans (IEP), clinical development plans (CDP) and overarching asset strategy. Provide oversight and drive continuous improvement for all related processes at the global, regional and local level.
- Medical degree and/or advanced degree in a scientific, medical or public health discipline (Ph.D., MD, Pharm
D). - 10+ years of experience leading and conducting interventional (clinical and/or implementation) research in virology with specialized training in research methods.
- Proven publication track record for research abstracts presented at major conferences and high-impact peer reviewed journals.
- Experienced manager, including direct reports and cross‑functional teams engaged in specific research studies and/or other projects and work streams.
- Research and/or clinical experience in therapeutic areas covered under LIVE.
- Community-based, PRO, qualitative and/or mixed methods research experience.
- Pharma / Biotech industry experience.
- Proficiency in statistical and qualitative data analysis software packages, Microsoft Office suite and reference management software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear and concise language for diverse audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to critically analyze data and scientific literature.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
