Research Scientist
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative senior research associate to join the Discovery Sciences and Technologies (DST) Department and contribute to our immunology capabilities to enable the identification and nomination of biologics drug candidates across all therapeutic areas at Gilead.
DST Department members are responsible for the design and execution of rigorous, quantitative, and physiologically-relevant in vitro biochemical and functional cellular assays. They collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams to discover and evolve drug candidates from lead identification efforts during project inception to the characterization of the final development candidate and finally to clinical biomarker quantification.
The successful candidate will be an integral member of the DST research team and work closely with various Research functions such as therapeutic area biology, structural biology and protein therapeutics to advance transformational therapies into clinical development for patients.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement biochemical and cellular assays to support structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies and drug discovery programs.
- Program and operate custom-integrated automation systems to support high-throughput screening and assay execution.
- Perform data analysis, reporting, and integration using database software and informatics tools.
- Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously in a cross-functional team environment.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to diverse scientific and technical audiences.
- B.Sc. in Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience, or M.Sc. in a related field.
- Hands‑on experience in cellular assay development with various assay readouts.
- Proficiency in data analysis and strong computer skills.
- Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Experience with flow cytometry and primary immune cell assays.
- Familiarity with assay automation and integration technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast‑paced, collaborative research environment.
