Research Scientist
Gilead Sciences (Foster City, CA) is seeking a talented and highly motivated Scientist to join our Inflammation research group. The candidate will study the disease pathogenesis of Inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, colitis, and inflammatory dermatosis, and will participate in the development of novel therapeutics. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, generating, and communicating experimental data internally to support target discovery and validation for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

Primary responsibilities:
· Independently design, conduct, analyze in vitro and in vivo experiments to support target validation and evaluate therapeutic hypothesis.
· Manage multiple projects simultaneously and work cross-functionally with colleagues in other research departments.
· Present research findings and recommendations to senior staff, prepare research reports and peer-reviewed manuscripts, contribute to project milestones and patent filings.
· Contribute to discovery of new therapeutic targets for chronic inflammatory diseases.
· Proactively evaluate new technologies for research
· Generate scientific hypothesis to enhance our understanding of disease mechanisms.
Qualifications & prior experience:
· 0+ Years with PhD;
PhD plus postdoctoral training preferred.
· 4+ Years relevant industry experience with MS; 10+ Years relevant industry experience preferred.
· 6+ Years relevant industry experience with BS; 12+ Years relevant industry experience preferred.
· Hands-on experience or substantial knowledge of preclinical models of inflammatory autoimmune diseases is required.
· Proficient in cellular immunology, including immune cell culture, multi-color flow cytometric analysis, and quantification of protein and/or RNA in immune cells and tissues.
· Fluency in molecular techniques to evaluate signaling networks and cellular phenotypes (e.g., plasmid design, transfection, transduction).
· Excellent organizational and communication skills, along with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
· The ability to work independently on day-to-day responsibilities and research goals.
· Computer literacy, especially proficiency with Graph Pad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
