Role Overview

This Global Asset Lead (GATL) will lead teams covering multiple assets—from early‑ to late‑phase and marketed products—related to HIV prevention.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute cohesive asset and program strategies, aligning with Gilead’s broader goals.
  • Lead cross‑functional collaboration around a shared asset vision, ensuring transparency and effective flow of information.
  • Assume accountability for timely achievement of key asset‑related milestones, monitoring progress against TPP, Asset Plan, and Lifecycle Plan.
  • Develop and present comprehensive global asset strategies, adapting plans as landscape evolves.
  • Facilitate high‑impact decisions, drive scenario planning and risk analysis, and communicate transparently with senior leadership.
  • Align cross‑functional teams around a unified asset vision, fostering clarity of roles, accountability, and an inclusive, collaborative team environment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to support program success and innovation.
  • Ensure operational excellence in the execution of integrated asset strategy and stakeholder activities.
  • Effectively articulate and champion asset strategies, scientific rationale, and clinical objectives to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborate with Therapeutic Area Leaders and Business Development to advise on disease‑area strategies for discovery, innovation, development, and lifecycle planning.
Required Qualifications
  • Advanced scientific, medical, or commercial background with expertise in drug development and relevant therapeutic areas.
  • Demonstrated cross‑functional leadership across global initiatives, effectively managing projects and executing strategic plans.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and integrate discovery, development, regulatory, and commercial considerations across all asset lifecycle phases.
  • Able to influence and deliver significant impact even in the absence of direct authority.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and decision‑making skills, able to resolve complex issues and influence senior leaders.
  • Track record of high‑level performance and strategic value delivery within global pharmaceutical or biotech organizations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the drug development process, including full asset lifecycle management and end‑to‑end brand exposure.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or business discipline required; advanced degrees such as PhD, MD, or MBA highly preferred (MD or PhD may be prioritized for some GATL roles).
  • 12+ years biopharmaceutical industry experience preferred, with at least 8 years in relevant roles within biotech/pharma organizations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the overall drug development process, with experience in commercial launches and program/asset strategy teams strongly desired.
  • Minimum Executive Director Level: 16+ years with BS; 14+ years with MS or PhD; 8+ years with MD.
Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $ – $. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock‑based long‑term incentives, paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company‑sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
