Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetic (DMPK) Senior Research Associate role is to conduct absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) studies to support the discovery and development of drugs candidates. As a member of the DMPK department, the candidate will conduct laboratory experiments (biochemical or cell-based) and bioanalysis (LC/MS and other methods), interpret data, and contribute to understanding of the ADME properties of small molecules.
Job Functions:
General knowledge of drug disposition processes for small molecules
Perform biochemical or cell-based assays to mechanistically investigate specific ADME issues
Under general supervision, design and execute complex experiments using appropriately selected methods and techniques to support routine research activities and project goals
Ability to troubleshoot and optimize assays as needed; identifying and applying novel techniques or protocols from reports in the scientific literature
Hands-on experience with quantitative analysis techniques with preference for HPLC-tandem mass spectrometric (LC-MS/MS) and/or high-resolution mass spectrometric (LC-HRMS) analysis
Working knowledge and hands-on experience working with physicochemical and/or biochemical assays using various human/animal tissue samples: solubility, metabolic stability, equilibrium dialysis; experience with primary hepatocytes (culture and/or suspension) preferred
Laboratory experience is essential
Capable to prioritize a diverse workload with strong time management skills
Ability to work productively in cross-functional teams, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills
Ability to communicate scientific results verbally and in writing
Ability to work in a collaborative enviornment
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and technical) and interpersonal skills are required.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with basic data analysis programs (Excel, Graphpad Prism, etc)
Basic Qualifications:
2+ years with a BS degree in pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, cell biology, biochemistry
or
0+ years with a MS degree in pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, cell biology, biochemistry, or related experience in industry
The salary range for this position is: $94,945.00 - $. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
