Sr. Automotive Safety Engineer

Location: Foster City, CA

Pay Range: $100 per hour

Our client, a leader in autonomous mobility, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Automotive Safety Engineer to join their innovative team. As an Automotive Safety Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Advanced Hardware Engineering department, supporting systems and functional safety teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, collaborative spirit, and a passion for developing cutting‑edge safety solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Perform Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) on system and sub‑system level architecture to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Delve into board and component diagnostics, providing detailed analysis and troubleshooting support.
  • Collaborate closely with systems engineers and design teams to understand hardware requirements and capabilities.
  • Develop and review test plans for verification of functional and fault injection tests on advanced compute and sensor hardware.
  • Support the development of safety‑critical hardware requirements and perform fault injection testing in compliance with ISO 26262:2018 standards.
Qualifications
  • B.S. or higher degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Automotive, or Robotics Engineering.
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in performing Board Level FMEDA and understanding SOC FMEDA.
  • Familiarity with ISO 26262 or other relevant safety standards.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret vendor documentation and perform detailed diagnostics.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
