Base pay range

Responsibilities
  • Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy and in other Pharmacy Department duties, in accordance with state, federal, and company policies and procedures.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • When PTCB certified, assist and coach pharmacy technicians in operating pharmacy systems and cash registers.
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Customer Experience
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
  • Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
Operations
  • Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
  • Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including entering patient and drug information, verifying medicine, checking for interactions, and assisting in scheduling and workflow maintenance.
  • Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist and adhere to Company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Strictly adhere to the Walgreens Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing.
  • Register sales on the assigned cash register and handle cash as required; assist customers in locating products when possible.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention.
  • Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services in a timely and efficient manner and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
  • Assist with inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments, and file claims for overages, shortages, and errors.
  • Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples, coordinating clinical services at Walgreens healthcare clinics, and collaborating with external providers.
  • Support Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing relationships with local medical providers, detailing, and outreach to community groups.
  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance of the Pharmacy Department, ensuring supplies are stocked and the area is clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program or state‑required certification/registration; otherwise, earn PTCB certification as a condition for promotion to senior technician.
  • Attend training, complete PPLs requested by Manager, and acquire continuing education credits to maintain knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy.
Basic Qualifications
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
  • Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills for accurate prescription filling.
  • Prefer good computer skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Prefer PTCB certification.
