Summary

The HVAC Technician‑R is responsible for the provision of building operations, maintenance and repairs in assigned facilities. This job works on a wide variety of assigned tasks under the direction of the Maintenance Team Leader.

Key

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Carry out the day‑to‑day execution of operations and maintenance programs to ensure uninterrupted tenant operations and that asset integrity is maintained either directly or via building automation systems.
  • Troubleshoot, analyse and determine the root cause of equipment and building problems.
  • Perform corrective maintenance and repairs within scope of key trade designation.
  • Respond to service requests and demand maintenance; record data and ensure completed work meets quality and response requirements.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance (PM) programs to increase efficiency of building operations.
  • Receive, track, monitor and report status of maintenance and repair work. Initiate documents to authorize or obtain formal approval of work required.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, and fire protection.
  • Be able and willing to work shifts, be available for on‑call/standby and emergency call‑out as required.
  • Represent CBRE/AFSI in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations.
  • Oversee and maintain all assigned tools and arrange for the calibration/inspection/repair and replacement where required.
Education, Job‑Related Years Of Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum Education:

    High school completion plus a specialized technical or business course.
  • Job‑related experience:
    More than three years up to five years.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Requires minimum three (3) to five (5) years experience as certified / Journeyman Refrigeration Technician.
  • Self‑motivated, willing to learn.
  • Work well independently and be a team player.
  • Consistently present and maintain a positive and professional image.
  • Good writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.

    Awareness of Environment, Health & Safety requirements.
Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
  • Must possess HVAC‑R Red Seal certification and minimum Gasfitter B certification.
  • Must meet site and/or position‑specific security clearance requirements imposed by the client for an assigned location and/or region.
  • Valid driver’s license (as required).
  • The successful candidate will be required to attain and maintain a valid and active RCMP Enhanced Security Clearance (ERSC). Applicants must be currently authorized to work in Canada without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Supervision/Direction Exercised
  • The position is not responsible for providing direct supervision.
  • Provide escort, support, monitoring and review vendor‑performed work.
Physical Assets / Information Management
  • May operate a company‑issued vehicle in alignment with CBRE/AFSI and/or any other applicable policies and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain equipment and use of tools in alignment with CBRE/AFSI and/or any other applicable policies and procedures.
  • All applicable IT assets to be used in alignment with CBRE/AFSI and/or any other applicable policies and procedures.
Financial Resources
  • All financial decisions/purchases to be made in alignment with CBRE/AFSI and/or any other applicable policies and procedures.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of reports/transactions related to authorized expenditures.

This is a unionized role with the BCGEU governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement. This is a 35 hour per week position and the rate of pay for this role is $45.79 per hour. The position is eligible for participation in the Public Service Pension Plan and Extended Health and Dental benefits after 6 months of service.
