Position Summary

The Staff RN, PACU, practices in accordance with the Vision, Values, Ethics and Standards of the organization and of the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and within a patient and family centered care model.
The Staff RN, PACU, provides nursing care in an acute clinical setting and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care. Working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Staff Nurse ensures the delivery of client-centered care by assisting individual clients and their families respond to changing health care needs. This Staff RN, PACU, possesses a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.

Fort St. John is known as 'The Energetic City,' which reflects the large resource base of oil, natural gas, forestry and agriculture. Overlooking the Peace River, the town of Fort John is located above the Peace River Valley and serves as the capital of the Peace River district. The population of Fort St. John is over 21,400 but it services an area of approximately 70,000.
The community is the hub of the Northeast with a cultural centre and library, theatre, and art space. There are seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and one secondary school. - Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
- Advanced education in an approved enhanced specialty post anesthetic education course, and two (2) years recent, related clinical experience aligned with unit specific competencies or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Assessment and Intervention - Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/ prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
- Communication - Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with the clients, families, the public, medical staff and the members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written and computer communication means.
- Critical Thinking - Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively.
- Human Caring and Relationship Centered Practice - Ability to promote client-focused care that demonstrates care for and with clients and significant others, sensitive to diverse cultures and preferences, client advocacy and social justice concerns.
- Teaching - Ability to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
