Local Area Manager; Civil Construction and Industrial Services

Our client, a well-established civil construction and industrial services contractor with a strong presence across Western Canada, is seeking a Local Area Manager to lead and grow their operations in Dawson Creek, BC.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for business development, strategic growth, and high-level management of the local business unit, with a strong focus on expanding oil and gas–related civil construction work in the region.

This position is ideal for a proven leader with deep local market knowledge, strong relationships within the oil and gas sector, and a growth‑oriented mindset. The Local Area Manager will oversee the overall performance of the Dawson Creek business unit, with an Operations Manager handling day‑to‑day field execution and reporting directly into this role.

• Lead the overall strategy, performance, and growth of the Dawson Creek business unit.
• Drive business development efforts, leveraging existing relationships and developing new partnerships with local oil and gas clients.
• Expand the scope of work beyond current services into higher‑value civil construction projects, including lease roads, well pads, ponds, and related infrastructure.
• Identify, pursue, and secure new project opportunities to grow annual revenues beyond the current ~$3–5M range.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and local industry partners to position the business as a preferred contractor in the region.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to the Operations Manager and broader local team.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to align local strategy with broader company objectives.
• Oversee high‑level financial performance, forecasting, and resource planning for the business unit.
• Ensure work is executed safely, profitably, and in alignment with company standards and values.

• Demonstrated experience in a senior leadership, area management, or business unit management role within civil construction or oil and gas services.
• Strong existing relationships with local oil and gas operators and clients in and around Dawson Creek.
• Proven track record of growing a business unit, expanding scopes of work, and increasing revenue.
• Solid understanding of civil construction scopes such as lease roads, well pads, ponds, earthworks, and related infrastructure.
• Strategic thinker with a hands‑on, entrepreneurial approach to business growth.
• Strong leadership, communication, and client‑facing skills.
• Ability to balance business development responsibilities with high‑level operational oversight.
