Location: Dawson Creek

Term of Appointment

Relief on Call Monday - Friday, Up to 6 hrs/day (max. 30 hrs/week)

Associate Dean of Health Sciences & Human Services

Salary

$45.60 - $56.75/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay. The period of campus closure that occurs between Christmas and New Year's Day is unpaid time.

Job Description

NLC's Health Sciences programs requires temporary, relief instructors to teach courses across the Health Care Assistant, Access to Practical Nursing, or Practice Nursing programs. Course topics may include communications, professional practice, health promotions, variations, pharmacology, integrated practice, or consolidated practice.

This position is located in Dawson Creek, BC.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Completion of an accredited Diploma in Practical Nursing, or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Current unrestricted full registration as a licensed practical nurse, registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Minimum of two or more years of full-time Canadian Nursing experience with relevant knowledge of the Canadian healthcare system and of the roles and responsibilities of healthcare team members and current policies and procedures within residential and community care settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach adult learners: completion of the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or willingness to enroll and complete within 5 years. Where PIDP Is not yet complete, teaching ability must be demonstrated during the interview process.
  • Evidence of completion of course work in Indigenous cultural safety and humility (e.g., San'yas Anti-Racism Indigenous Cultural Safety Training or an alternative course).
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Committed to student motivation and achievement; and
  • Ability to contribute as a team member.

Preferred:

  • Teaching experience as a nurse or health care professional.
  • Preference will be given to current residents of BC.
