McElhanney has a unique opportunity for a Civil Engineer to join our team in Fort St. John, BC. In this role, you will join a young and growing team of engineers in a small‑office environment.

The successful candidate will be part of our Fort St. John Engineering Branch and is either already based in or willing to relocate to Fort St. John. Fort St. John has a welcoming atmosphere, with a mix of outdoor adventure and community events. Fort St. John is known for its economic stability, and the cost of living is relatively affordable compared to larger cities.

- Provide detailed production of engineering designs, drawings and specifications for various civil projects including municipal, land development, water and wastewater, site drainage, road works, bridges, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Work from preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, utilizing Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed.
- Coordinate and assist in the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates, tender documents and contracts, and coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved.
- Complete field inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the work being performed.
- Assist with Construction management and contract administration.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.
- Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university with a 5+ years’ experience in a similar role.
- Registration in good standing as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or eligibility for registration) in British Columbia.
- Proficiency in the application of specialized design software such Civil 3D.
- Experience in a consulting engineering environment an asset, but not required.
- Experience with basic structural engineering design would be an asset, but not required.
- High productivity, attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a collaborative, team environment.
The salary range for this position is $92,000 - $137,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
