Position Description
A temporary full time (1.0) Occupational Therapist is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective May 11, 2026 until the return of the incumbent but not beyond June 30, 2026. The assignment will be at Learning Services.

Qualifications And Experience- Ability to participate in meetings within and beyond the regular school day to support learning
- Eligible for membership as an Occupational Therapist which meets the standards established by the College of Health Care Professionals of BC
- Behaviour interventions that follow the RTI (Response to Intervention) framework is an essential understanding
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills are required to work at all three tiers of a responsive system, supporting school based teams in developing and strengthening the social and emotional skills of our children & youth
- Planning and facilitating in-service sessions for classroom teachers, educational assistants, and parents may also a component of this position
- The candidate must have a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel to rural and in-town schools
- Preference will be given to the candidate who has the above skill set, plus:
- Knowledge of screening and assessment tools used in Occupational Therapy
- Ability to provide consultation for school based teams
- Ability to provide mentor training to staff to carry out routines and programs that may be designed to improve fine motor function, sensory integration, sensory processing, self-regulation and functional motor skills for optimal participation of students in classroom settings during the school day
- Qualifications and experience in working with students who exhibit challenging behaviours
- Knowledge & understanding of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) implementation and self regulation, both in the classroom and on a school wide basis
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with classroom teachers, resource teacher, learning assistant teachers and school based teams to support classrooms with Tier 1, 2 and 3 supports and specific scenarios involving more individual plans
- Skills to develop and implement individual/group programs in areas such as social skills, self-esteem, anger management, bullying, anxiety, etc.
- Knowledge of materials and strategies appropriate for supporting students with complex needs
- Ability/experience to contact and liaison with outside agencies
- Experience with technology and related software to support learning

- Membership in CHCPBC (or able to apply)
- $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas.
- $3,035 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
- Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $65,397 - $111,952
- Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enrol in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE.
