As a YMCA Class Instructor, you will lead, engage, and motivate members in theatre/acting classes, promoting creativity, empathy, diversity and personal growth . You will be responsible for creating a positive and inclusive class environment, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare theatre classes that are safe, effective, and fun.
  • Deliver classes that meet the needs and preferences of diverse participants.
  • Provide clear instructions, demonstrations, and modifications to accommodate all levels.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with class participants.
  • Create a welcoming and motivating environment for all members.
  • Offer encouragement, support, and positive reinforcement.
  • Ensure that all activities are performed clearly and effectively.
  • Monitor class participants to ensure artistic growth and well-being .
  • Respond promptly to any accidents, injuries, or emergencies according to YMCA protocols.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new artistic techniques, and best practices.
  • Participate in ongoing YMCA training and development programs.
  • Maintain required certifications and seek additional relevant certifications.
  • Ensure the theatre or class area is clean, safe, and well-maintained.
  • Report any supply issues or facility concerns to the appropriate staff .
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of activities as needed.

Qualifications:

Education &

Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Advanced Training or related college courses required .
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required (or willingness to obtain within the first 30 days of employment).

Experience:

Previous experience teaching acting or general theatre classes.

Experience working in a community-focused organization or theatre/acting studio preferred.

Skills:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to design and deliver engaging and effective theatre classes.

Knowledge of various acting techniques and theatrical genres .

Ability to motivate and inspire individuals of all levels.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
