You will be the Software Engineer - Skunk Works - Level 2 for the Aeronautics Ground Systems team which is responsible for delivering cutting‑edge, mission‑critical software that powers secure, high‑performance cloud and hybrid platforms.
What You Will Be DoingAs the Software Engineer – Skunk Works – Level 2 you will be responsible for shaping, building, and sustaining software services that enable transformative DoD initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include:- Design, develop, and integrate software services within an Open Mission Systems environment.
- Deploy, test, and validate reusable ground‑systems capabilities for aerospace missions.
- Champion DoD‑mandated security at every layer of the software stack.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineers to ensure high‑performance, secure cloud and hybrid solutions.
- Document designs, create operational procedures, and provide ongoing technical support.

You are a collaborative, forward‑thinking engineer who thrives on solving tough problems and building new capabilities. Your expertise in secure software development, cloud architectures, and systems integration makes you an ideal partner for mission‑critical projects.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a related field
- 1 or more years experience in a professional software development environment
- Active security clearance.
- Professional security certification:
CompTIA Security+ or any DoD 8140‑approved certification (e.g., CySA+, CASP, CEH) - Coding (C++, Java) or Scripting (Python, Bash, Power Shell) proficiency
- Familiarity with Open Mission Systems architectures and deployments
This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work RemotelyOnsite Full‑time:
The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
