Juv Justice Youth Mentor (SUBS)

We’re looking for someone who has a passion for helping teenagers navigate life’s challenges and who is eager to make a lasting impact on their future.

Job Overview

The Juvenile Justice (JJ) Youth Mentor provides mentoring services on weeknights, weekends, and evening sessions to moderate‑ and high‑risk youth and their families. The mentor supports youth in successfully completing their probationary period and reducing recidivism by offering academic support, emotional development, and opportunities for pro‑social activities and peer engagement. The role includes close collaboration with the Tarrant County Juvenile Services (TCJS) team and frequent communication with probation officers, including monthly written updates on each youth’s progress.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver one‑on‑one mentorship to moderate‑ and high‑risk youth during scheduled evenings and weekends.
  • Coordinate with TCJS staff and probation officers to track individual progress.
  • Develop and implement trauma‑informed, culturally and linguistically competent interventions.
  • Provide academic support and facilitate access to community resources.
  • Maintain accurate, monthly written progress reports for each youth.
  • Participate in team meetings and data collection activities.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (minimum).
  • Valid Texas driver’s license.
  • Lived experience navigating the juvenile justice system (preferred).
  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).
  • Experience with trauma‑informed and culturally competent service delivery (desired).
