Traveling Concrete Finisher

Application Instructions

SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Concrete Finisher is to finish and smooth surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks, curbs, and other structures to meet specified textures and quality standards. This role involves pouring, spreading, leveling, and finishing concrete using hand tools and power tools such as floats, trowels, and screeds. The Concrete Finisher supports jobsite productivity, safety, and quality while upholding The Fricks Company's vision, values, and culture.

Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities - These duties are essential to fulfill the minimum requirements of the position. Additional duties may be assigned.

• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized workstation
• Loading and unloading materials, tools, and equipment as needed
• Signals concrete deliverer to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete
• Moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms
• Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms, using rake, concrete spreaders, or shovel
• Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, using handheld screed and floats to bring water paste to surface and produce soft topping
• Smooths and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete using straightedges, floats, and power screeds, and finishes surfaces with power trowels (walk-behind and ride-on), laser screeds, or by wetting and rubbing with abrasive stone.
• Hand finishes along edges, armored joints, embeds, columns, and other details
• Applies Trap Rock as instructed by Fricks standards
• Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces, using power grinder, chisel, or hammer, and patches with fresh concrete or epoxy
• Performs occasional demolition or repair of old concrete surfaces using pneumatic tools
• Safely operates and cares for equipment
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Follows all company and OSHA safety guidelines

Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or experience required.

Education, Licenses, and Certifications Required:

• High School Diploma preferred, not required.
• Driver's license preferred, not required.

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in concrete finishing, including familiarity with construction tools and equipment.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Proven ability to manage crews and coordinate with project management teams.
  • Strong understanding of concrete finishing techniques and quality standards.
  • Effective crew leadership, communication, and delegation skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans, specifications, and architectural drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiar with Outlook and adaptable to company-specific software.

Physical Requirements and Environment:

• Ability to stand, walk, crouch, stoop, kneel, squat, and bend for prolonged periods.
• Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Must be able to perform a full range of body movements required in concrete finishing tasks.
• Work is performed in indoor and outdoor construction environments, sometimes in inclement weather.
• Willingness and ability to travel out of state for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work additional hours when necessary.
