Pay Rate Information

Instrumentation/Electrical Tech I: $22.90 - $28.62/hr.

Instrumentation/Electrical Tech II: $24.67 – $30.83/hr.

Sr. Instrumentation/Electrical Tech: $31.52 - $40.98/hr.

Hours:

Monday – Friday 6:30am – 3pm;
Some evening/weekend work required.

Minimum Qualifications Instrumentation Tech I
  • HS diploma/GED
  • Two (2) years’ experience in instrumentation and/or electrical maintenance or process controls
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
Instrumentation Tech II
  • HS diploma/GED
  • Three (3) years’ experience in instrumentation and/or electrical maintenance or process controls
  • Possession of electrical apprentice certification or Associate’s degree in Instrumentation or Electrical Technology
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
Senior Instrumentation Tech
  • HS diploma/GED
  • Four (4) years’ experience in instrumentation and/or electrical maintenance or process controls
  • Possession of an appropriate valid journeyman electrical license
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain a (minimum) Maintenance Electrician's License within 3 years of employment required
  • 24 hour on-call duty is required, on a rotating basis
  • Associate's Degree in Instrumentation or Electrical Technology, and /or a State Texas Journeyman or Master Electrical License
  • Skills in both instrumentation and electrical maintenance
The Instrumentation And Electrical Technician I

Job Responsibilities Include
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronic components and instrumentation pertinent to the wastewater treatment process
  • Inspect and maintain medium voltage electrical power distribution equipment (i.e. switch gear, transformers, circuit breakers, selector switches, feeder cables, etc.)
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Maintain active log of daily activities and field documentation
  • Provide technical support to co-workers, supervisory staff and other sections within the Water Reclamation and Reuse Facility and the Water Department
The Instrumentation And Electrical Technician II

Job Responsibilities Include
  • Same as Instrumentation and Electrical Tech I
  • Installs and maintains digital and analog computer control loops involving variable speed pump drives and modulating valve operations
  • Analyze circuitry, interprets test data developing and implements methods for improvement
  • Test electrical panels containing instruments such as meters and recorders, variable speed drive units and other highly technical equipment
The Senior Instrumentation And Electrical Technician

Job Responsibilities Include
  • Same as Instrumentation and Electrical Technician I and II
  • Gathers, compiles and analyzes data. Tracks repair costs
  • Coordinates new and rehab construction projects performed in-house
  • Assigns work, trains, directs and evaluates work of assigned I&E Technicians and Interns
Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting;
Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, gases, vibrations, chemicals, oils and workspace restrictions.

Heavy Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
