RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operates different types of complex, specialized/heavy equipment.
  • Performs road maintenance or construction related duties while operating equipment.
  • Transports equipment and supplies to and from the job site.
  • Ensures/implements and maintains traffic control standards at work site; inspects and manages precinct sign inventory and replacement.
  • Performs routine maintenance on equipment or trucks and reports needed repairs.
  • Maintains job site safety standards.
  • May develop work schedules, evaluate lower-level employees, and prioritize jobs.
  • May order supplies.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.
  • NOTE: You must fill out the work history and education sections of the application to show you have years of experience/education as required by hiring department or be disqualified.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • High School diploma or GED + three (3) full-time years of related work experience OR Must have seven (7) full-time years of related work experience.
    • A Class A CDL is required upon hire. Tanker endorsement is required within thirty (30) days of hire.
    • Must have advanced knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance.

    (THE SELECTED CANDIDATE(S) FOR THIS POSITION MUST TAKE AND PASS A PRE-PLACEMENT PHYSICAL EXAMINATION AND DRUG TEST)

    If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing.

    Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudications in the past seven years and may include financial reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.

    While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to stoop, bend, push and pull. May have to lift heavy boxes or objects up to 100 pounds. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals. Exposure to extreme heat and cold.
