Position Overview:

MP Materials is seeking a dynamic and experienced Key Account Manager to play a critical role as the primary commercial interface for key strategic customers. Reporting to Director, Account Management and working closely with cross‑functional teams, the Key Account Manager will be responsible for managing the customer relationship from initial engagement through stabilized production, ensuring customer satisfaction, successful product launches and ongoing and growing program profitability.

The ideal candidate will have experience with sales/purchasing, contract negotiation, and customer and product management, including in the automotive business. Familiarity with managing commercial launches is also desirable. This position will require regular, on‑site work at our facility in Fort Worth, TX, as well as regular live visits to key accounts.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage day‑to‑day commercial relationships with assigned accounts.
  • Support all phases of customer relationships from quoting and contract negotiation to product launch and continuous production.
  • Coordinate customer requirements related to pricing, production forecasting, quality and engineering needs.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to communicate customer requirements and translate into actionable plans that align with MP’s capabilities and objectives.
  • Support Director, Account Management in developing account strategies, growth plans and contract frameworks.
  • Track KPIs for commercial performance, customer satisfaction and product delivery.
  • Participate in regular customer visits and business reviews.
  • Be an active leader in building a respectful, collaborative, mission‑driven, unwavering culture.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or higher.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial procurement and/or customer management roles.
  • 2+ years of experience in automotive, materials, chemical, or other high‑tech, build‑to‑print manufacturing fields.
  • Strong understanding of commercial and quality requirements for automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Experience with utilizing CRM and ERP tools to manage customer performance and metrics.
  • Demonstrated communication, presentation, and negotiation skills to effectively deliver results for internal and external customers.
  • Willingness to regularly travel to customer and MP sites.
  • Analytical, strategic, and structured thinker with entrepreneurial drive.
  • Proactive, resourceful, self‑motivated, and possessing exemplary interpersonal skills to “meet people where they are” across all levels of diverse organizations.
  • Ability to drive action and results within a matrixed organization across multiple sites.
  • A tireless work ethic, willing to do whatever it takes whenever it is needed to ensure success.

Desired Qualities:

  • Knowledge of rare earth magnet applications and markets.
  • Experience with automotive procurement and/or sales at OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Familiarity with compliance of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Experience with commercially managing the rollout of customer programs.
