Sales Executive I – Southern Company
Job Summary: Power Secure is experiencing dramatic growth to meet the market opportunity for energy resiliency and to accelerate the adoption of clean energy resources. The convergence in the market of data center growth in the US, grid capacity shortfalls, frequent weather events and growing utility incentives has dramatically accelerated the adoption of distributed generation. We are hiring a Sales Executive in our Data Center team to drive growth by identifying, securing, and managing data center clients.
Your responsibilities will include contributing to the growth strategy in the data center market and executing sales in that vertical, yielding sustained, profitable growth for Power Secure in alignment with the company’s strategic plan.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
- Work experience in U.S. data center markets with direct sales experience; preferred experience with energy management, microgrids, and/or distributed generation applied to data centers.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in business development, sales, sales management, product management, or a similar role.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem‑solving, decision‑making, analytical, organizational, and creative thinking skills.
- Ability to lead sales activities while partnering with various internal support functions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with internal and external audiences on technical and financial topics.
- Meet sales goals by identifying and managing the project opportunity funnel to exceed order conversion and booked margin objectives.
- Client prospecting and qualification: identify, select, and engage targeted data center entities with growth plans requiring energy resiliency and sustainability.
- Client relationship management: develop and run plans to build and maintain relationships across economic and technical influences, securing formal strategic partnerships.
- Client engagement: address multiple layers of organizational engagement from site maintenance & operations to C‑level financial and sustainability executives.
- Communication: exhibit exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and written/verbals skills.
- Value chain management: coordinate coverage of strategic third‑party value chain members such as engineering firms, construction managers, and commissioning agents to ensure client satisfaction and trust.
- Client advocacy: bring the voice of the customer into Power Secure’s business to influence and improve product development and service offerings.
- Networking: develop a strong personal network across client organizations, value chain members, and industry groups that influence and lead the energy resiliency and sustainability space.
- Opportunity qualification: initiate, vet, and develop business opportunities within targeted accounts, leveraging engineering and project development resources effectively.
- Team selling: partner and collaborate with other Sales team members, marketing, project development, product engineering, and services to identify and grow opportunities within the assigned segment.
- Proposal development: work with proposal development, estimation, and project development engineering to create and present proposals that meet customer expectations.
The role typically involves an ambient office environment with well‑lit work areas and traditional office equipment. Overnight travel may be required. You may occasionally stand, walk, sit, use hands to manipulate objects, climb stairs, and talk or hear. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work in front of screens for extended periods.
