The Assistant Manager assists and consults the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties, ensuring the store’s goals are met. The role requires comprehensive knowledge of each product area, adherence to company policies and standards, and a passion for outstanding customer service. The Assistant Manager assumes supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence, and is trained in Store Manager Responsibilities.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Assist the Store Manager in controlling store assets.
- Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and store-wide responsibilities, including selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Assist in overall personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers in all departments.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed.
- Inform the Store Manager of inventory movement and customer trends.
- Maintain quality customer service.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and remain trained in Store Manager responsibilities.
- Deliver extraordinary customer service as highlighted in the customer service manual.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by Hibbett I City Gear.
- Uphold all company policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring internal control procedures are accurate and effective, and inform management of potential fraud risk.
Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager. Carry out supervisory duties in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving problems.
Qualifications- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1‑3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Team‑player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
