This position supports a 24/7 workforce, which will require working irregular business hours, including overnights, weekends, and holidays. Workday and hours will be assigned based on the needs of the department. Must be able to activate for 24/7 emergency response as needed.

As part of our continued evolution and dedication to public safety, the newly formed Emergency Management & Communications (EM&C) Department is seeking an Emergency Operations Center Technician to provide technical support for the Emergency Operations and Communication Centers.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in emergency planning, public administration or a related field

* Must meet CJIS requirements - see further

* Valid driver's license

* Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid technician level amateur radio license within six months of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

* Two (2) years of experience in providing technical support for public safety technology and related systems

* Two (2) years of experience in system administration for various Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and/or Emergency Communications Center (ECC) systems, including Veoci, Motorola Rave, Central Square Enterprise CAD, Motorola P25 and outdoor warning sirens

The Emergency Operations Center Technician's job responsibilities include:

* Manages inventory and tracks EM&C technology maintenance

* Assesses and monitors EM&C technology and related systems for operations efficiency

* Tests and troubleshoots EM&C equipment. Works with Information Technology Support (ITS) Desktop to refresh equipment

* Supports EM&C staff with technology issues and coordinates problem resolution with ITS to resolve problems, as necessary

* Supports the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and/or Emergency Communications Center (ECC) during activations or at the command post for special events or large incidents needing technology setup

* Provides backup EM&C system administrator for various EM&C systems including Veoci, Motorola RAVE, and outdoor warning system

* Performs other related duties as required

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.

Light Work - Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
