Position: Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg General Surgical Unit - PRN Rotating

Overview

Job : . Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg General Surgical Dept.

Work location:

Texas Health Fort Worth, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104.

Work hours:

PRN “As Needed” Days/Nights - Rotating Weekends/Holidays. PRN I requires a minimum of 1 shift per six-week schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver care to a wide variety of post-op patients including: complex gastro-intestinal and abdominal surgeries and plastics-related wound care cases requiring ostomy, drain and wound vac management.
  • Utilize the Nursing Process: assess the patient, plan care, intervene as appropriate, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Incorporate age-specific safety and infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information.
  • Maintain continuity of patient care across shifts, inter-hospital transfers, and during expediting out-of-hospital transfers.

  • Level I Trauma Center
Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required
  • BSN preferred
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required
  • BCLS – before providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting required
  • 2-years experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care setting preferred

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process
  • Assesses the patient
  • Plans the care of the patient
  • Intervenes as appropriate
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
  • Incorporates age-specific safety/infection control measures into patient care
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others’ need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers
