Overview
Baylor Scott & White Surgical Hospital Fort Worth is hiring a Registered Nurse Operating Room Coordinator for Orthopedics. This role supports surgical teams by coordinating resources, managing equipment, and ensuring high‑quality patient care in a 30‑bed acute care surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities- Attend surgical specialty sub‑section meetings and collaborate with surgeons, educators, vendors, and lead technicians to introduce new technology and schedule cases.
- Effectively communicate specialty needs with the RN Clinical Manager and Charge Nurses, and provide ongoing oversight of staff competency.
- Identify capital equipment needs and review the surgery schedule to ensure resources are available and patient care plans are optimal.
- Obtain information from the surgeon regarding positioning, supplies, medications, and implants for scheduled cases, and communicate availability to charge nurse and staff.
- Update and maintain Cerner/Excel document preference cards and collaborate with the lead tech to incorporate surgeon preferences into patient care plans.
- Serve as a clinical resource for staff in the surgical specialty and stay current with best practices, evidence‑based standards, and specialty trends.
- BSN or graduate of an approved nursing program (BSN preferred).
- Current RN license in the state of Texas and BLS certification.
- Minimum two (2) years of orthopedic operating room experience in a surgical setting.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and interact diplomatically with patients, families, physicians, and staff.
- Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures specific to the operating room environment and proficiency in OR nursing skills.
