This role supervises the plant production function as directed, focusing on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Primary Purpose Of The Position
  • Supervises the plant production function as directed.
Essential Responsible Areas
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment, including correcting unsafe acts/conditions, facilitating monthly safety meetings, performing monthly safety inspections, and investigating accidents.
  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the food safety system.
  • Maintain process quality in accordance with Ball Packaging Operations process and quality standards.
  • Serve as the plant facilitator during designated periods as directed by management.
  • Administer and supervise the plant production function.
  • Review performance and personal development of all subordinates on an individual basis.
  • Arrange on‑job training and development of subordinates’ skills to ensure a high level of production and morale.
  • Provide production, spoilage, and maintenance records; maintain subordinates’ attendance, evaluation, and other appropriate records.
  • Schedule subordinates’ vacations, overtime, holidays, and job assignments.
  • Communicate and disseminate information between crew operations.
  • Access, input, and retrieve information from the computer.
  • Initiate, review, master, and follow all SOPs for area of responsibility.
  • Maintain positive relations with local bargaining unit to ensure high productivity.
  • May be responsible for D&I department storeroom function, including housekeeping and equipment maintenance.
  • May administer D&I department PM program.
  • Establish and maintain an employee‑relations climate of trust and confidence to discourage third‑party interference and promote plant and company goals.
  • Maintain effective work relationships within the department, division, group, and company; manage stress and interpersonal conflicts.
  • Work primarily in 12‑hour rotating shifts (days and nights, Monday–Sunday); be able to work overtime and be on call as directed by management.
  • Comply with hazardous waste and environmental management requirements through scheduled training.
  • Communicate with the emergency coordinator or environmental focal point/manager regarding environmental management activities.
  • Respond to emergency procedures, equipment, and systems as required and implement contingency plans.
  • Maintain environmental documentation, such as inspections, labeling, record‑keeping, and equipment maintenance.
  • Comply with established job safety practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Recognize waste streams and minimize waste generation through prudent use of materials and proper disposal.
  • Comply with environmental regulations regarding hazardous and non‑hazardous materials and wastes.
Position Requirements & Competencies Professional & Education Qualification
  • Broad training in a related field, usually acquired through college or work‑related experience in the can or end‑making process.
  • Minimum two years of job‑related experience.
Skills
  • Apply intensive and diversified evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard production techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Handle sensitive proprietary information in a confidential manner.
  • Perform assignments directed by management.
  • Operate and use a computer effectively.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Maintain professional competence, ethical integrity, knowledge, and skills.
Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of business principles, legal practices, product specifications, equipment mechanics, Ball Packaging Operations quality standards, and supervisory practices.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Ball Corporation manuals.
Other Requirements
  • Work in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Accept occupational hazards such as high noise, physical obstacles, and exposure to chemicals.
  • Wear appropriate safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing, and footwear; follow safety practices.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Hiring Salary Range: $85,900–119,890 (adjusted for education, experience, knowledge, skills, and internal equity).
  • Eligible to participate in the annual incentive compensation plan.
