Operations Manager
The Production Shop Lead is a working foreman responsible for leading, coordinating, and participating in the daily activities of the panel shop. This includes hands‑on assembly and wiring of industrial control panels, overseeing shop personnel, maintaining workflow efficiency, and ensuring high‑quality builds that meet engineering and customer specifications.
The Shop Lead works closely with the Operations Manager, Quality Control Supervisor, Document Control Coordinator, and engineering teams to ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, and on time.
Job Duties:- Build and wire industrial control panels using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Mount components such as PLCs, VFDs, breakers, relays, terminal blocks, and other electrical hardware.
- Perform point‑to‑point wiring, crimping, labeling, torquing, and verification checks.
- Ensure all builds meet UL508A, NEC, and Foresight internal workmanship standards.
- Mechanical Assembly
- Lead the mechanical assembly of custom equipment and machinery designed by Foresight’s mechanical engineering team, ensuring builds follow detailed mechanical drawings, 3D models, and fabrication specifications.
- Coordinate with Engineering to clarify assembly requirements, verify tolerances, and resolve design or fitment issues during the build process.
- Lead shop personnel in assembling frames, guarding, subassemblies, mechanisms, brackets, actuators, and structural components that form part of custom machine builds.
- Ensure all custom equipment assemblies meet Foresight quality standards, mechanical integrity requirements, safety expectations, and customer specifications.
- Validate that all mechanical subassemblies — including motion components, pneumatic assemblies, mounting plates, and structural elements — are properly aligned, torqued, and prepared for integration with electrical controls.
- Leadership & Shop Coordination
- Lead day‑to‑day shop activities and assign work to panel builders and assemblers.
- Monitor progress and adjust priorities to meet production schedules.
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members.
- Train junior assemblers and develop team capabilities.
- Ensure workstations are clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards.
- Collaboration with Operations Manager
- Communicate material shortages, build obstacles, or schedule risks.
- Help forecast labor needs based on upcoming projects.
- Support implementation of standardized processes and shop best practices.
- Provide input on project timelines, shop constraints, and process improvements.
- Support to QC & Document Control
- Work with the Quality Control Supervisor during in‑process and final inspections.
- Ensure corrections and rework are completed promptly when identified.
- Collaborate with the Document Control Coordinator to support redlines, build documentation, and as‑built updates.
- Provide feedback on missing, unclear, or incorrect engineering drawings.
- Safety, Quality, and Continuous Improvement
- Enforce safety rules and maintain a culture focused on quality craftsmanship.
- Identify recurring issues and bring forward solutions to engineering and operations.
- Participate in root‑cause analysis for defects or nonconformances.
- Support continuous improvement activities within the shop.
