Job Description
This position is responsible for assembling parts and installing various refrigeration system components into refrigerated and heated units.
Responsibilities- Follow all company safety rules and policies.
- Read job traveler instructions and drawings to determine build requirements; verify correctness; report errors or shortages.
- Measure, cut, twist, and solder wires; crimp connectors; use hand tools.
- Bend, cut, and crimp component leads to mount them into wiring harnesses; test and repair assemblies.
- Order parts as required; determine materials needed and sequence of assembly.
- Operate spot‑welding machine, punch machine for hinges and lock‑keepers, and other assembly equipment.
- Assemble hinges, brackets, gaskets, metal components according to blueprints, engineering specs, work order, and bill of material.
- Install refrigeration system components, mounting brackets, and hangers per blueprints and specifications.
- Cut, bend, and braze tubing for liquid and suction lines; install expansion and control valves using acetylene torch.
- Start system, observe operation, read gauges, and adjust controls, valves, and pumps.
- Test lines, components, and connections for leaks with detection equipment.
- Transport parts or units within the facility as requested.
- Assist in crating finished units, match shipping labels, and ensure proper packaging.
- Work cooperatively with co‑workers to achieve productive work processes.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
- Follow verbal and written instructions for installation or assembly.
- Use a variety of small hand tools, power tools, and a tape measure.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Read and understand part requirements and select correct parts.
- Assemble components following diagrams.
- Knowledge of and ability to use wiring test machines.
- Experience with electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment.
- Advanced wiring techniques including cutting, splicing, hypot, and wiring testing.
- Read and understand production and delivery schedules.
- Attend work regularly and report promptly for duty on scheduled days and times.
- Manage schedule changes productively.
- Work temperatures vary; noise present.
- Stand, sit on forklift, walk for at least eight hours on concrete surface.
- Lift and carry items weighing more than 35 pounds; use assistance if needed.
- Perform motions to reach difficult areas (bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, twisting).
- Pull and push up to 100 pounds.
- Use hand tools and power tools unilaterally or bilaterally as required.
- Corrective vision and hearing required.
- Mental alertness required to identify safety hazards.
- Communicate with supervisors and co‑workers.
- Wear designated personal protective equipment (safety glasses, cut‑resistant gloves, hearing protection, dust masks).
Monday – Friday – 6:00 am to 2:30 pm and overtime when required.
