Job Description - District Maintenance Admin - Fort Worth District (2600016)

Position Overview

The Fort Worth District Maintenance Office is looking for a District Maintenance Administrator who wants to combine their planning and leadership skills with their knowledge and expertise of transportation maintenance to improve the condition of our roadways. Reporting to the Director of Maintenance, the District Maintenance Administrator develops and monitors yearly budget-based work plans for in-house roadway materials and equipment. The District Maintenance Administrator is actively involved in the development and management of the district’s response to emergency events like winter storms.

The District Maintenance Administrator also leads the District’s Special Jobs Crew, who use specialized equipment to assist maintenance sections across the district. You will be working with both internal employees and external entities on TxDOT’s behalf to facilitate an excellent relationship with your fellow TxDOT employees and the traveling public.

Responsibilities
  • Administers routine and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Participates in implementing the Bridge Inspection Program.
  • Addresses environmental operations and hazardous materials issues.
  • Develops and monitors 3‑ and 5‑year maintenance budgets.
  • Directs the Emergency Operations Program.
  • Evaluates road conditions.
  • Inspects current projects for proper use of personnel, equipment and materials, traffic control and quality of work completed.
  • Oversees district equipment operations and heavy equipment pool.
  • Oversees the district's seal coat program.
  • Prioritizes the work of special maintenance crews.
  • Serves as advisor to maintenance supervisors and district staff.
Qualifications
  • 5 years in transportation maintenance project administration, or related transportation experience. Experience can be satisfied by full‑time or prorated part‑time equivalent. Related graduate‑level education may be substituted for experience on a year‑per‑year basis.
  • Must have 3 years supervisory/managerial experience. Project leader or lead worker experience may substitute for supervisory/managerial experience.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

  • Developing and coordinating training programs
  • Applicable industry safety standards, guidelines, and specification codes
  • Budgeting methods and procedures
