About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Federal Immigration Litigation Paralegal to provide dedicated, high-level support to our Federal Immigration Litigation Attorneys. This role is essential for managing our federal caseload, focusing heavily on document preparation, strategic organization, and maintaining the integrity of our federal court filings.
Responsibilities- Provide critical support in managing federal court cases, including drafting, preparing, and organizing all documents necessary for filing Complaints, Motions, Briefs, and Petitions in U.S. District Courts and Circuit Courts of Appeals.
- Ensure all federal court filings (including electronic/ECF filings) comply with jurisdictional rules and deadlines.
- Litigation support:
Prepare attorneys for hearings by assembling trial packets, creating chronologies and charts, and drafting formal discovery/document requests (e.g., FOIA requests). - Specialized litigation support:
Assist attorneys in litigation related to Administrative Procedure Act (APA) challenges for unreasonable delays or wrongful denials;
Mandamus actions;
Habeas Corpus petitions;
Circuit Petitions for Review, Denaturalization defense, and Naturalization de novo reviews. - Evidence management:
Review, organize, and summarize voluminous evidence (e.g., criminal records, affidavits, country reports) and prepare materials for court submission. - Client communication & ethics:
Act as a primary point of contact for clients, gathering necessary information, providing case updates, and maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Experience & Expertise: Minimum of 2-5 years of proven experience directly supporting federal litigation, preferably in immigration or administrative law. Experience supporting cases involving the APA, Mandamus, or Habeas Corpus is highly preferred.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in legal documents and case information.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
- Technical Proficiency: Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage a high-volume workload professionally. Proficiency in ECF/Pacer systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and legal case management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase, Docketwise) is required.
- Language: Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
