Aboutthe role
The Associate Engineer is primarily responsible for deploying the tools necessary to manage and monitor new clients going through a service transition. This position involves working closely with senior engineers, project managers, and our clients to ensure successful deployment and documentation of our client’s environment prior to the service going live. The engineer will be extremely proficient with all the tools our business uses to deliver the service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Working closely with internal and external technology support teams to ensure proper instrumentation of customers’ networks, systems, applications, services, and business processes.
- Coordinating between internal teams and customer teams to ensure effective delivery of services with the aid of various tools.
- Researching, designing, testing and deploying solutions that are cost‑effective, flexible, highly available, and agile.
- Managing and maintaining the monitoring framework by completing application availability and performance monitoring.
- Troubleshooting issues and implementing resolution of monitoring systems.
- Managing false positives and negatives.
- Configuration, release and change management.
- Performing installations according to design specifications; conducting pre‑site preparations; and documenting transfer internally and externally.
- Minimum of 2+ years of IT experience with experience managing Linux and Windows systems.
- 1‑2 years of experience administering one or more enterprise monitoring systems (ex. Zenoss).
- Cisco networking experience a plus.
- Strong understanding of SNMP.
- Understanding of Windows Remote Management (WinRM) and Active Directory is highly desired.
- Scripting experience with Python and Power Shell is highly desired; VMware, Net App experience a plus.
