Job Description & How to Apply Below

We're building the most powerful reporting and analytics engine in our industry, a system that brings unified insights across marketing, sales, revenue, and automation into one seamless platform that transforms data into decision-making intelligence. This is the team responsible for turning raw, multi-channel, multi-source event data into clean, trustworthy, real-time intelligence. That's the mission. That's the team. And you'll lead it.

This isn't a manage dashboards role. This is the foundation of data intelligence across the entire High Level ecosystem that helps millions of businesses make real business decisions in real time. If the data is wrong, businesses lose trust. If reports are slow, people lose clarity. Your job is to make sure that doesn't happen.

As an Engineering Manager, you'll manage a team of 6-10 engineers responsible for the full Reporting & Analytics platform pipelines, modelling, transformations, caching, query execution, and visualisation layers. This is the central data intelligence layer of High Level, and you'll own its stability, scale, and future

Responsibilities
  • Architecture:
Redesign core reporting pipelines to be modular, fault-tolerant, and horizontally scalable. Onboarding a new product? Enable reporting out of the box.
  • Execution:
Balance rapid iteration with the quality standards required for mission-critical analytics. This system has to fly and land every single time.
  • People:
Hire smart. Set standards. Give autonomy. Push growth.
  • Collaboration:

Work tightly with Product and Design, but you own the technical outcomes.
  • Utilise billions of events from multiple HL modules (CRM, Calendars, Conversations, Payments, Email/SMS, Calls, Workflows).
  • Generate cross-object insights like attribution, revenue forecasting, activity intelligence, and customer behaviour patterns.
  • Power an AI layer capable of answering natural-language questions using real-time High Level data.
  • Connect internal and external sources, including GA4 Google Sheets, APIs, and more.
  • Enable a reporting marketplace, where users and developers can build and publish their own report templates.
  • Lead the design of scalable, high-performance systems to improve reliability, latency, and throughput across time-sensitive APIs and workflows.
  • Work with technologies like NestJS, Firestore, Mongo

DB, Click House, ES, Redis, GCP Pub/Sub, Queuing Systems and Service Mesh-based microservices.
  • Drive technical direction across both product features and platform layers to ensure stability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Integrate and optimise AI-assisted development tools, improving developer productivity while ensuring accuracy and minimising hallucinations.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and AI teams to deliver impactful, user-facing features and backend systems.
  • Mentor and support other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, learning, and ownership.
  • Proactively identify and solve performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and security concerns in a multi-tenant environment.
Requirements
  • 8+ years in software engineering, with at least 2 years leading teams building large-scale, high-availability backend or data systems.
  • Experience with Node JS and its core fundamentals, modern front-end frameworks (e. g., React, Vue, Angular) and building full-stack web applications. Experience with modern front-end frameworks (e. g., React, Vue, Angular) and building full-stack web applications.

  • Skilled in guiding technical architecture, making high-impact engineering decisions, and mentoring fellow engineers.
  • Experience with code quality practices, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and dev tooling optimisation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with clear and collaborative communication across cross-functional teams.
Preferred Experience
  • Strong familiarity with our tech stack (GCP, Node.js, databases mentioned above).
  • Proven track record of mentoring high-potential engineers and leaders.
  • Experience building or operating large reporting or analytics systems.
  • Experience contributing to architecture and design decisions of mission-critical platforms.
