Position Description

Reporting to the Plant Human Resources Business Partner, the HR Generalist provides leadership and administrative support to the plant operations team. The HR Generalist supports all business functions to drive and attain the desired business goals for Refresco North America. This role supports hourly and exempt level employees in the manufacturing plant and assists leaders and employees with recruiting, onboarding, development and training, performance management, compliance and investigations.

The HR Generalist will support implementation programs under the direction of the HRBP.

Essential Functions
  • Ensure comprehensive understanding of and adherence to all HR policies, procedures, and employment law.
  • Interpret, advise and assist employees and managers regarding leave management, benefit administration, and HR procedures within guidelines.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect operations by keeping HR information confidential.
  • Assist HRBP with recruitment tasks for exempt and hourly employees and employment strategies.
  • Lead the annual performance review process for hourly employees.
  • Partner with department managers on the annual merit process for hourly employees.
  • Lead administrative compliance training for EHS, Food Safety and HR compliance.
  • Prepare for and participate in local career fairs and hiring events.
  • Facilitate training to plant leaders as needed.
  • In partnership with HRBP, organize community events.
  • Support plant leadership with retention strategy, labor market analysis, and EHS activities.
  • Support HRBP with labor or employee relations meetings or investigations as needed.
  • Resolve problems by leveraging business/HR knowledge and client relationships.
  • Network with HR colleagues across locations to share best practices.
  • Lead and organize all employee engagement events with Plant leaders.
  • Other projects or duties as assigned by the HRBP.
  • Maintain and track HR data and metrics.
  • Support customer ethical audits.
Required Skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and HRIS.
  • Strong organization and communication skills; able to multi-task in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in payroll administration, recruitment and employee relations.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret company policies and procedures to management and hourly employees.
  • Excellent communication skills with clear, concise language and professional demeanor.
  • Data literacy and ability to understand how functions support organizational goals.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills; ability to break down issues and synthesize information.
  • Coaching, conflict management, and relationship-building capabilities.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of HR Generalist or HR Management experience; manufacturing experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree or related field preferred.
  • Labor relations and union relations preferred.
  • English and Spanish fluency preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM certification preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office; intermediate Excel skills required.
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems and other HRIS applications required.
